Pastor Sameh Hanna

Dr. Sameh Hanna holds a bachelor’s degree in information science from Cairo
University, a master’s in information science from Mainz University in
Wiesbaden, Germany, and masters in divinity from Knox College, Toronto
University, where he also obtained his Doctorate of ministry.
Knox College has had an important impact on Dr. Hanna as it contributed in
shaping his thinking, character and added a very distinctive experience to his
life. Moreover, the quality of teachers handpicked to teach has taught him by
their lives and words.
While in Germany, Sameh served the Arabic community there and started the
first Arabic church in Germany in 1995. After he moved to Canada, the Lord
called Sameh to full-time ministry so he left his career, trained for ministry, and
was ordained as a minister of the Word and sacraments, for Arabic-speaking
people, in the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

Dr. Sameh Hanna has been serving on the pastoral team of KDEC since 2009, at
which point he also became the associate pastor. He served the church in various
ways during different seasons: leading the ministry teams, serving as the
Executive Pastor and managing the central management. As the associate pastor
of the church Dr Sameh teaches and preaches on regular basis at the various
church meetings, moreover, the Lord is using him to truly pastor His people and
counsel them not only to preach and teach at the church.
His passion for the Lord and for His people has been the motive in his ministry-
to serve the church in any capacity according to the need and to the grace of God
given to him. At a time where people were fleeing the country and the nations
of the ME during what’s known as the Arab Spring, he has been rooting himself
more to heed the Lord’s call and to serve the people at church, when he chose to
leave Canada and return back with his family to live in Egypt. Having witnessed
the proceedings of the revolution and the church’s involvement in it, he was
inspired to write his first book: “Out of the Walls” where he discussed the impact
of Egypt’s civil uprising and how this changed, empowered, and awakened the
church.
The Potter academy is a newly founded seminary in the church and Dr. Hanna
teaches about Missions, Church planting & church history in it.
